I have issues with being an OCD Christmas Nazi.
I can’t help it – in fact, I don’t want to.
I LOVE Christmas… It’s the most wonderful time of the year (I hope you sang that last bit)
All my Christmas Trees (yes, you read that right), Wreaths, Advents Calendar, Table Decorations etc. must ‘go together’. I like my Christmas Styling to be cohesive and matchy-matchy. I’m just that sort of person.
OCD? Yes. Can you touch my tree if you visit. No!
This year I’m going with a ‘Folk Christmas’ which means lots lot Blues, Green and Reds as well as some great Nordic & Floral Patterns with a touch of white thrown in too. It took me aaaaaaages to come up with my Christmas Theme this year (which is very unlike me), but I got there in the end. These are some of the baubles I’m using this year:
Now before I get ahead of myself and I get attacked for not including Miss 6 in the decorating – She actually has her own Christmas Tree in her bedroom that she likes to decorate herself in a delightful area of gaudy colors and handmade objects (and then strip down and decorate again and again). It keeps us both happy & Hubby doesn’t care.
Last year I had my Niece (Miss 2) & Nephew (Master 6) come and stay and so I made sure my decorations were a little more Child Friendly than normal, since Miss 2 is a toucher/climber. This year they are coming again, but I’m not too worried since I’m pretty sure I scared Miss 2 (soon to be 3) enough last year into not touching the Tree (Lol – just kidding… sort of 😉 )
These are some of my previous Christmas Themes:
- Blue & Green Nordic (2014)
- Raspberry & Apple Green Floral w/Lots of Pink Magnolias & Orchids (2013)
- Rustic Green & Gold (2012)
- Rustic Tin & Twine (2011)
- I don’t count (2010) as we were renting while we built our house and we had a tiny little fibre-optic tree. It was crap.
- Multi-coloured Spiral Fantasy (2009 – Miss 6’s 1st Christmas) I actually don’t know how the Christmas Tree held all the ornaments I managed to squeeze onto it that year.
Clearly I am a fan of anything Nordic or Rustic. Plus, I try to tear clear of standard Christmas Themes, just to keep things interesting. Make sure you follow me on Facebook and Instagram – I’ll be posting lots of Christmas Decorations Photos when they’re finished (I might even sneak the tree up early).
How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
