I can’t believe I haven’t blogged since 2015. Slack – I know, but here we go…. Happy Healthy New Year!
I can safely say that 2015 was not my year as far as health & fitness go, AND Christmas topped it off nicely with me eating copious amounts of Fruit Mince Pies and basically lying around like a sloth.
Since it’s a New Year, I’m going to get all Healthy – which means no more binging on Chocolate, Pastries and Goodies in general. I’m jumping (one leg at a time) on the whole-foods bandwagon. I’m turning myself into a Food-Portioning, Healthy-Eating Exercise-Junkie (ok, not really – but some sort of exercise will happen everyday…promise).
To kick it off, I have organized myself an Exercise Regime that I will (attempt) to stick to and I have portioned up every piece of Healthy, Fruity, Wholesome Food in the house. My husband thinks I’ve finally lost it.
BUT, I can’t just go cold turkey and do the whole ‘I Quit Sugar’ thing – !!!!!! I would die. Seriously.
So I saw these little beauties somewhere on Pinterest, but couldn’t be bothered going back to find them so I thought – ‘I can totally do that’… and I did! Snaps for me 😉
Seriously, you CAN NOT stuff these up!
All you need is a large block of Dark Chocolate (which is good for you, right?) – I happened to have a mega block of common old Woolies Homebrand Dark Cooking Chocolate in the fridge, I also threw in 1/2 block of Cadbury Old Gold to add some depth and flavour. Plus you’ll need about 1 Cup of Trail Mix.
Melt down the remaining Chocolate (I say remaining, cause I know you’ll eat some just to make sure ‘it’s still good’). I use the over a boiling pot of water method, but you can microwave it if your super-careful.
Once melted, Spoon the Chocolate onto sheets of Baking Paper and sprinkle the Trail Mix over the top. Place in the Fridge to set and you’re done.
Easy Peasy, right! and OMG they taste fabulous!!!!
Mine are about the size of a 50 cent piece, but you can make them bigger or smaller if you want. They do make A LOT, so if you decide to go smaller, prepare to be spooning chocolate for a while.
I’ve stacked mine in a Glass Jar and hidden it at the back of the fridge, ready for those after dinner cravings that are sure to come. AND did I mention they are bite-sized so you can sneakily stuff one in your mouth and then deny any knowledge of having Chocolate to any nosey Children you may have lying around.
Need some more Healthy Treats to keep on hand. Try my Super-Tasty Energy Balls – the kids will love them too. Miss 6 would live off these if she was allowed!
